Jerry Martin

Jerald “Jerry” Martin, 54, of Las Vegas, NV and formerly of Highmore, SD, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial was 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 7, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Highmore with Father Paul Nereparampil officiating. Burial was approximately 2:30 p.m., Friday at St. John’s Cemetery in Wagner. Visitation was from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, January 6, 2011 with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the church.

Jerry was born July 4, 1956 at US Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, IL to Harry & Alma (Wagner) Martin. He was a 1974 graduate of Highmore High School and attended Black Hills College, Spearfish, SD.

Jerry worked for Black Hills Gold Mine and Pope & Talbot Lumber Mills in the Black Hills area before moving to Las Vegas in 1998. He was employed by Palace Station Casino at the time of his death.

Jerry will be remembered for his friendly nature and always having a smile on his face. If you needed to know anything about sports, just ask Jerry as he was an avid sports fan.

Survivors include his sisters, Patricia Martin of Vancouver, British Columbia, Pamela (Tom) Durfee of Highmore, SD, and Paula Bartunek of Hawarden, IA and 8 nieces & nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Harry & Alma Martin and his brother John.
